Background

Startup Rox, which builds autonomous artificial intelligence agents to improve sales productivity, has secured a new funding round that values the company at about $1.2 billion, according to people familiar with the deal.

The funding round reportedly included a lead investment from returning backer General Catalyst. The company and the investor did not respond to requests for comment regarding the latest investment.

Sources said the funding round closed last year. At the time, Rox expected to reach around $8 million in annual recurring revenue by the end of 2025. The company helps businesses manage customer relationships and sales by using AI-powered automation.

Rox was founded in 2024 by entrepreneur Ishan Mukherjee, who earlier served as chief growth officer at New Relic. Mukherjee joined New Relic after the company acquired Pixie Labs, a software monitoring startup that he co-founded, in 2020.

The startup describes its platform as an intelligent revenue operating system that connects with widely used business tools such as Salesforce and Zendesk. Its AI agents work in the background to track customer accounts, research potential clients, and update customer relationship management (CRM) systems.

By automating these tasks, Rox aims to replace many different tools that sales teams usually use separately. Investors believe this idea can make sales work simpler and help teams work more efficiently.

Rox had earlier announced in November 2024 that it raised a total of $50 million across funding rounds. The seed round was led by Sequoia Capital, while the Series A round was led by General Catalyst with participation from GV.

The company faces competition from revenue intelligence platforms such as Gong and Clari, as well as AI sales automation startups including 11x and Artisan AI.

According to its website, Rox already serves several well-known technology companies, including Ramp, MongoDB, and New Relic.
